After 23 years as a school counselor in the NYC Public School system, I am experienced in supporting children and families through a wide range of emotional and behavioral challenges. Now in my move over to private practice, I continue this work with a focus on helping clients navigate complex issues with empathy, and practical strategies for growth.
I work with children with anxiety, low self-esteem related to academic struggles, ASD, ADHD, as well as those coping with significant life changes such as divorce or loss, and those in need of strengthening social skills. I have many years of experience facilitating therapeutic groups and social skills groups.
A key area of interest for me is supporting parents of children with learning or emotional/behavioral needs. Caregivers who are advocating services for their children need their own source of support. I offer a safe, nonjudgmental space for parents to process their own stress, build resilience, and find effective strategies for navigating the unique challenges of parenting.
I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Solution Focused Brief Therapy. My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in the belief that change is possible when people feel supported and empowered.
Hobbies: I am a lover of animals and the natural world; I am a licensed wildlife rehabilitator. In my spare time I rehabilitate orphaned and injured wildlife, helping them to grow strong and return to nature.
